Flutterbys

One of the purposes of this blog, in addition to improving my writing skills, is to showcase my photography.  After all, if you going to be self-serving, why not go all the way?  In any event, I went to the Academy of Sciences a few weeks ago and managed to get some pretty decent butterfly photos in the rainforest.  I've done a little research and tried to name the butterflies when I can.

This big guy is called an Owl Butterfly.

Is it live or is it Memorex?

A friendly Tiger Longwing.

I think this one is called The Postman.  Does he always ring twice?

I can't identify this one.  Maybe another Tiger Longwing?

Not a butterfly.  A cockroach, actually.   But it does have wings.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but maybe we shouldn't be looking.

The Postman again.  Guess that answers my question.

This might be a Zebra Longwing.

More Owl Butterflies.

Also not a butterfly.  Some kind of shrimp. Yum.

My friend the cuttlefish.  (Totally moved off the butterflies.  Must focus.)

You-know-who again.  What a camera hog.

Jeez.

And finally...

Ducks.  There must always be ducks.
