The successful vacation begins with careful packing. Space is at a premium, so be sensible. Take only what you need.
Fortify yourself. You do not know what lies ahead.
Make sure you have plenty of in-flight entertainment to keep you occupied on that long, cross-country flight.
Know where you are going. Airports can be confusing.
If you have a layover, don't forget to take advantage of any and all recreational activities that may be available.
When you arrive at your destination, familiarize yourself with the area.
Whatever form it may take.
Get friendly with the locals. They can be your biggest resource when you get lost or want to know where the best restaurants are.
If you are part of a group, stay with it.
Do not wander off.
Make sure to make some time for sightseeing, but beware of extravagant souvenirs. Resist temptation.
Time to leave. Being the seasoned traveler that you are, you have chosen the most direct and cost-effective means to get home.
Remember to take care of all your needs before you get aboard your selected mode of transport.

Return home to the enthusiastic greeting of your pet.

I've never seen Ilya look so happy. Are you sure he should be having so much caffeine? : - )
ReplyDeleteI took good care of that hamster and only let her have one Dr Pepper a day!
ReplyDeleteWhy do I see a photo of the Dumbo ride in this post? Where was that? The Smithsonian? Why? I mean, I love Dumbo and all, but what???
And that suitcase was a travesty...of course I always indiviually seal all my clothing in ziploc bags to protect them in case of a water landing.
You see the humor, then. Yes, Dumbo is in the Smithsonian - right next to Stephen Colbert.
