Tomorrow the hamster babies will be one week old. As you can see, the little pink blobs are slightly bigger pink blobs. Their eyes are still closed, but already I can see that there will be at least one dark-colored hamster, and maybe one white one like mama. The distinctive dark line down the middle of the back of a dwarf hamster is already visible. Most babies are weaned within 14 - 17 days of birth, so I think I will see a lot of changes during the next week.
Blanca has been spending time away from the nest, running in her wheel and her ball for a few minutes in the mornings. She doesn't seem to mind me opening up the nest to check on her babies. She sniffs at my hand and will even let me pick her up. Towards the end of the video, you will see her come in and cover the babies up again. (And Cosmo shares his thoughts.)
